About 5 Letter Finder

5 Letter Finder is a free, fast word finder for Wordle and other five-letter word games. Enter the letters you know, and it lists every word that fits. It never shows the daily answer.

Our word list

The site lists 8,626 five-letter words taken from the ENABLE word list, a public-domain list that word games use widely. A short list of slurs is left out.

How “common words” are chosen

About 2,300 words are marked as common and shown in bold. They are the five-letter words that appear most often in everyday English. We measure that with the FrequencyWords list by Hermit Dave, which is based on OpenSubtitles and licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Plain plurals and past tenses (like BOOKS or BAKED) are left out of the common group, because Wordle answers almost never use them. They are still listed as valid words.

Being common doesn’t guarantee a word is a Wordle answer. It just means the word is more likely to be one.
